Bathroom towels serve a practical purpose. But they can also be used to add charm and decoration to a bathroom. Read on to learn more about how to hang bathroom towels decoratively.

The Art of Folding

Towels can often be found on a crumpled heap on the bathroom floor after they have been used. This creates an untidy looking bathroom, even if it is otherwise scrupulously clean. But for people who are more concerned about keeping their bathroom tidy, bathroom towels are usually just folded and draped over the bath or on a towel rack ready for use. A bathroom can look very different if the towels are arranged and folded differently. For smaller bathrooms, there is more of a need to conserve space and big, bulky towels can take up a lot of room making the bathroom look even smaller than it really is. Towels can also be stacked vertically in a cupboard when space is tight.

Display Towels on a Wine Rack

According to Better Homes and Gardens, a simple addition such as a wine rack can be added to a bathroom to display small hand towels. Learn how to roll the hand towels so that they fit into the wine rack. This provides a large selection of hand towels within easy reach without having to head off to the towel and linen cupboard each day to replenish used towels. Using a wine rack to display hand towels also frees up a lot of space in the bathroom and adds a stylish touch.

White is Versatile and Stylish

Choosing bathroom towels that match the theme and décor of the bathroom can be fun. But when you want a more practical solution and you are searching for towels that will match any bathroom, choose white. White hand bath towels can be bleached with ease to remove stains and stacked in a tall linen cupboard in the bathroom. Fold towels differently and stack them together according to size, so that when you want a hand towel, you will not reach for a flannel or a larger bath towel.

Takeaways
  • Use a wine rack to display lots of hand towels all at once
  • Try out different ways to fold towels
  • White towels match any bathroom decor

Thanks for the tips, Sophie. We have a towel ring which our hand towel hangs on. I guess it's similar to the hooks that you mentioned because our hand towels don't dry properly and we have to change it often to prevent that mildew smell.

Is it only me me ladies? Or do others of you have trouble teaching the male members in your household the fine art of proper towel folding? After years of refolding towels that my sons & spouse couldn't seem to get folded to fit onto the shelf, I read this handy tidbit about rolling them up and placing them in a wine rack! I think this would be really handy bathroom idea especially if you had small kids in the house. Interesting topic choice, Sophie.

Good, practical suggestions on the aesthetics of bathroom toweling, Sophie. I use two 'sets' of towels: those for display/decorating and those for functionality/use. Also, put a drying rack in your laundry room and immediately remove the just-used towel to the drying rack. Not only will this maintain the aesthetics of the bathroom, but is a time saver and indicator of when towels need to be washed. Be well, Michael

I always do that. My daughter says I'm a fanatic. I always refold the towels in the bathroom when we clean houses.
