Both me and my son were surprised to see that one of the gifts at his second birthday party was a box of chocolate chip cookies. My son had eaten a chocolate chip cookie not but a week before at someone else's house and this was the first time that he had tried chocolate. We don't usually have chocolate in the house unless it is fair trade, so although I would never had gotten them for my son I was going to let him have one. I as well tasted a couple Back to Nature Chocolate Chunk Cookies.

There was a time when I thought that chocolate tasted great. It wasn't uncommon for me to select a candy bar when choosing a piece of candy to get and my friend and I made a point to bake something chocolate every time we got together, I was fifteen at the time. I am telling you this because it was at that age that I decided to swear off chocolate, be done with it. The reasoning was because I knew it would help my complexion and I thought it would be a great technique for learning discipline. After about six months of doing that someone told me that they didn't eat chocolate either, but it was because the chocolate industry doesn't always offer their workers fair wages, working conditions and there is even discussion of child labor involved. At that point I decided to give up chocolate for the same reason.

The reason that I decided to try some of the Back to Nature Chocolate Chunk Cookies was because a little over a year ago someone bought a nice treat for me. I was moving into a new apartment and as celebration they got be some black cherry rice dream frozen dessert. I was thankful and was happily eating the bowl when I tasted something I didn't recognize. I took a few more bites and then realized that the ice cream contained chocolate and after some six years of being chocolate free that was over. Even though I use to care for the taste it wasn't all that appealing to me now. I continued to not buy chocolate, unless it was fair trade, and I rarely, rarely ate it. I think that these cookies were the first chocolate that I have eaten this year.
