Foundation is the most important makeup product you can have. If you only wear one item of makeup, it should be foundation. Foundation evens out your skin, covers spots and freckles, disguises blemishes and blotches and gives something for the rest of your makeup to stick on to. Even though foundation is such an important makeup product, many people do not know how to properly apply foundation so that they get the best look from their makeup. Applying foundation is quite simple, but it may take some time to find the perfect foundation for yourself. Good foundation should not streak, change colors as the day goes on, crack, and it should match your face perfectly. To find a good foundation, you can't be afraid of spending some money. Considering that foundation is the basis of your makeup and will affect your total look of your face, then you should not have a problem spending some money on it. Also, when buying a foundation, make sure that you always wear a foundation that does not contain any pore clogging ingredients or irritants. This is what causes people to have bad experiences with foundation. There are several different types of foundation available. There are liquid foundations, cream based foundations, powder foundations and tinted moisturizers. You may have to try different foundations to find the perfect one for you. Some important tips to remember when buying a foundation is to match the color of your skin perfectly with the foundation and pick a foundation that is best formulated for your skin type.
Now that you have found your perfect foundation product, here are step by step directions on how to properly apply it to your face.
*If desired, apply moisturizer or sunscreen evenly to your face before applying foundation.
1. If needed, shake the foundation well (the bottle will let you know if you have to shake the foundation before use).
2. Dip clean fingers or a foundation applicator sponge into the foundation or squeeze some from the bottle. Dot the foundation onto your cheeks, chin, forehead and nose.
