Death of a King - The Sale of Anheuser Busch
Where is America heading? The proposed sale of the largest American owned brewery and not to mention a classic symbol of Americana is a real sign of how times have changed in America. We were once the largest industrial machine in the free world, people left there homelands to come in search of the American dream, to start a new life with unlimited opportunity. The America of today is "For Sale To The Highest Bidder", and that should be a major concern to every citizen in this country as we loose more and more jobs to oversea enterprises.
As a shareholder ( BUD) and a citizen of St. Louis Mo. world headquarters for Anheuser Busch I am deeply opposed to this take over (or merger as they are now calling it ) by a foreign investor, sometimes it not all about the money. Have we lost all sense of tradition, values and pride that we take in ourself as a nation? Are we going to keep allowing these foreign entities to to come in and buy America just so we can make a quick buck and not think about the future ramifications? Think of the snowball effect, do we really want to have every American cooperation basically but on the selling block? Where will be in twenty years from now working and make money for everyone but ourselves? Are we becoming a nation of sellouts?
My challenge to Americans is this, Shareholders we need to vote no on the proposed merger and though we may not beat out all the big wig profit takers we need to show them that we are not all for sale. The news of this merger truly marks a sad day not only for the city of St. Louis, but for the nation as a whole. It is time to wake up and stand tall and keep this country strong as the Pledge goes " One nation under God ".
