When I sold items on the eBay® auction site, I literally took hundreds and hundreds of shots of the merchandise I had to sell. I wasn't a professional photographer, but I already had much experience under my belt, which helped. I managed to produce clear, attractive shots of a wide variety of items inside, as well as outdoors. Anyone who has to snap pictures of an item they are trying to sell knows you have to make your item look attractive. But, you also have to make sure the picture gives prospective buyers a true look. That is, the pictures have to be clear, the colors have to be correct, and the item has to look like its real size. To help you with your photography skills, here are 5 tips on how to take better digital pictures that I have learned:

1. Before You Use Your Digital Camera, Read and Learn
The first digital camera I purchased was "gently used." So, to help seal the deal, the previous owner told me how to use the camera. At least, it was how he used it. I followed his advice and was able to produce many satisfactory pictures for awhile. Then, one day I decided to take a look at the owner's manual to see if I remembered everything the previous owner had told me. As it turned out, he only used part of the features my digital camera had, so I wasn't utilizing the device to its full potential!

2. Use the Viewfinder Instead of the LCD Display
There are two reasons for this: 1. The LCD display sucks up alot of the battery power. There's nothing worse than trying to take pictures when the batteries in your digital camera suddenly go dead. 2. But most importantly, using your viewfinder will allow you to see the objects in your photo more clearly.
