Ways to Get More Traffic to a Blog

The hardest part about having a blog is getting people to ready it.   There are many ways to advertise your blog. A majority of these methods are either free or very cheap (under $10). The main methods of advertising your blog are 1) forums, 2) press releases, 3) article submission, and 4) classified ads. I’ll break each of these down into smaller sections. I recommend trying at least 2 or 3 of these to see if they improve your blog traffic.

Forums are great places to advertise your blog for many reasons. The main reason is that if your blog is about Model Airplanes, you can join forums about Model Airplanes and contribute information while also doing advertising. How do you find such forums? Search in Google. You might also try searching in Google Groups or Yahoo Groups. Don’t join groups/forums just to advertise your blog. Use them to meet people with similar interests. Make sure in your signature that you put the name of your blog. You would be surprised the number of people who will see a link in a signature and click it out of curiosity. Hopefully, you’ve built up enough content in your blog that you’ll keep attracting return visitors. Remember Traffic = Clicks = $$

Press releases are also good for advertising your blog. They aren’t quite as targeted as forum/group advertising because not everyone who sees your press release will click on it. There are some free press release sites out there. Search in Google for them. I do not recommend paying to do press releases.
