July 18th called for the theatrical release of this summer's most anticipated film, The Dark Knight. While critics and movie goers alike were rare into go- I was still having bitter sweet feelings about seeing this already Oscar worthy film. As most of you already know, The Dark Knight will be the very last film for the late actor Heath Ledger, who in my opinion, is the James Dean of today. Ledger always took his work very seriously and was a highly regarded and respected method actor- his death was a harsh blow to the entire acting community, his beloved friends and fans. I can only hope that Heath is looking down, flashing that quirky little smirk of his and realizing just how awesome and monumental this film has proved to be.

Director Christopher Nolan reprises his role as the all seeing eye in the second installment of the Batman films, following "Batman Begins" in 2005. What is expected to go down in history as a mind staggering epic will indeed shock and awe any audience member willing to tune in. Batman (Christian Bale) sets out and nearly struggles to do away with the existing crime organizations throughout Gotham City, but the treacherous journey is well on it's way to being dismantled by the sick and twisted villain known and feared by Gotham residents as the Joker (Heath Ledger). The Dark Knight plots to take on the Joker, who's eerie laugh and rod iron grin make him a terrifying force to be reckoned with. It's your not-so typical battle of good vs. evil- a war waging within the soul of each character, a triumph, a fallen hero and reawakened spirit.
