Espn.com is reporting Brett Favre's agent James "Bus" Cook has said Favre won't be applying for re-instatement with the league and will instead wait to see what the Packers intend to do.

In an interview with Chris Mortensen, Cook said the player thought it wouldn't make sense to have Favre apply for re-instatement and then be fined $15,000 a day for not showing up to training camp.

The Green Bay Press Gazette, quoting a source close to Favre, indicated he might file for re-instatement prior to the team starting camp in order to force a decision.

The Packers have already stated they won't release Favre from his contract, which has two years remaining on it; mostly to prevent him from signing with a division rival. The team has also stated that, if he does re-join the Packers roster, it would likely be in a role other than the starter since they are trying to move on with Aaron Rodgers as the quarterback.

The Packers haven't ruled out a trade and have until the 6th week of the regular season to do that. However, several potential suitors, including the Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets have already indicated they might not be as interested in Favre as originally thought. The Vikings Coach, Brad Childress, for example has already stated 3rd year player Tarvaris Jackson will enter the 2008 season as the undisputed starter.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers still remain rumored trading spot because of Favre's familiarity with coach Jon Gruden and Gruden's obsession with bringing in quarterbacks. However, a couple media sources have indicated Favre may not be interested in playing for the Buccaneers because he prefers to practice and play in cooler climates.
