What Men Want from Women

The desire and need for sex has not changed for men or for women throughout history. Women have just had more parameters imposed on their need for and enjoyment of sex. Historically, sex outside of marriage for men has been at best tolerated and at worst, expected. Women on the other hand, have endured shame, scorn and retribution for engaging in sex outside of marriage. Even if sex was forced on the woman. And should a women ever admit that she likes, wants and needs sex? Well, we've got plenty of nasty epithets for that wench.

The irony is that the same cultures that demonized 'Scarlet Women', forced sex on women, in and out of wedlock. Slaves, servants, prisoners, temple virgins, concubines, courtesans, geisha, harems, bartered brides and other luckless women were regularly raped and forced into sex. Little girls were sold and bought for sex as a matter of custom. Prostitution, the oldest profession in the world, has been a means of survival for widows and orphans. Women have had to whore for food, shelter, protection, to appease deities and to provide for their children. Said children often being the product of rape or whoring for food.

Am I blaming men for these hideous crimes against women? No. The real sex peddlers have been toxic culture mores, the rapists, corrupt legal systems. Commerce and sometimes even religion have pimped women. Women too, have kept their own in bondage. Women have forced other women into unwanted sex and turned their heads while rapes were taking place. Why? For money, to protect a family fortune or name, because they were impressed by a name or a title, to survive, to get ahead. It's a festering boil on society's backside. Jung's spoke of 'collective consciousness'; something we're all aware of and pass down through the generations, but nobody wants to call it by name. And if the truth does come out, women have been the first to judge, try and execute their own sex.
