UFC 87 looks to be a great card with many solid matchups. Even though many hardcore fans complain that the UFC doesn't have all of the best fighters, they have many of the best, and a good number of them are on this card. What's even more important to me is that the UFC has the best matchups. Card after card, matchmaker Joe Silva creates the most exciting fights in the business even with the undercard fighters. In my opinion, there isn't anyone better.

Georges St-Pierre vs. Jon Fitch

This is going to be a barnburner. GSP is simply one of the best in the game today. Easily one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, he looks to defend the title he lost to and then won from Matt Serra. GSP has had some of the toughest fights of anyone in the world, having fought incredibly tough and successful competition since his very first fight and winning all but two of them. This fight will be no different. Jon Fitch has won 15 in a row to get to this title shot. He is an amazing fighter and works incredibly hard. Specializing in wrestling and having come from the Perdue wrestling program, Fitch now trains at the American Kickboxing Academy with the likes of Mike Swick and Josh Koscheck.

As tough a fighter as Fitch is, I think GSP will simply be too much. Not only has his level of competition been tougher, but his wrestling is off the charts and he will be able to at least neutralize Fitch's takedown attempts. In all likelihood, as with the other strong wrestlers he's faced in the past, he'll be able to take Fitch down. His standup game, if he decides to use it, is much better than Fitch's and his ground game is, at the least, equal. I think Jon Fitch is the #2 active fighter at 170 lbs., but GSP is far ahead at #1.
