Coming up with innovative ways to entertain seniors in their advanced years requires some preparation. For seniors in an assisted living circumstance, I have found that providing connectivity to holidays and their personal memories to be essential in their well being. Scrapbooking crafts encourgage memory skills by reinforcing the application of their minds and their hand in performing the craft. The scrapbooking craft for the holidays is perfect to provide both modalities a great work out and have a fun time in the process. It was quite a chore to find the perfect scrap book and accessories at a reasonable cost because I needed to bring the total cost per resident at less than $10. I have done all the footwork and I am glad to tell you that you can do this scrapbook craft project for around $6 per resident. The project will be professional in appearance and easy for the advanced years senior to accomplish.

The Activity:
Plan an afternoon party with refreshments and holiday music. In advance of the party acquire photos of the residents from the residents or their families. If none are available take some candid shots of the resident and family while they are visiting. Also, take candid shots of all the residents in their daily routine around the residence.
Place card tables or other folding table out in groups of two or four and place an Accordian Book at each place setting. Include a packet of personal photos and accessories for each resident.
