Jana Hawkes of "The Young and the Restless"

Jana Hawkes of "The Young and the Restless" played by Emily O'Brien is a very intriguing character. Jana is a lady of British origin and she joins Kevin Fisher's coffee shop Crimson Lights as a barista. The character has various shades. She had an aura of mystery when she first came into the show, with a British background, past work experience as an Au pair and sky diving instructor and immense knowledge of art history. Though just a waitress she manages to capture the heart of Kevin.

Jana's character then changes shades and she is portrayed as a ruthless killer and a criminal who is involved in unlawful activities, causing her amour to go against her. Beyond her erratic behavior, which even compels her to try and kill Kevin, her love for him shines through. Then her character is given yet another twist, and she is diagnosed with a brain tumor that causes her to act psychotic, the revelation of which makes Kevin forgive and accept her.

Now the character of Jana has turned completely good and now she is planning her Goth themed wedding with Kevin.

Kudos to Emily O'Brien for portraying such a complex character with such conviction. It displays her versatility as an actress and shows that she will go places.
