There are several expensive restaurants in downtown Chicago but does that mean that you are promised excellent food and atmosphere? Most of the time yes, but other times you are just paying for the location and the name so that's why you have to make sure that you picked the right one before you go spend a fortune on a dinner. I will be using a scale from 1 to 5 here, where 1 is the least valuable for money.

Catch Thirty Five (www.catch35.com)

35 W Wacker Dr, Chicago 60601
Btwn N Dearborn & N State St

As soon as you go in this restaurant you will be struck by the décor which instantly draws you into a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The background music is soothing and that adds a lot to your first impressions. The service could not be any better. The waiters seem to be very knowledgeable and they try to advice what is the best for you. If you are a wine lover, you will not be disappointed as Catch Thirty Five offers a huge list of wine and if you go on Sunday you can get half price off too. The food was good, nothing special, just eatable. The shock comes with the check, but only you can judge if it was worth it or not.

Value - 3

Fogo de Chao (www.fogodechao.com)

661 N La Salle Blvd, Chicago 60610
Btwn W Huron & W Erie St

If you can afford to take a date here, then do it. The low light ambiance adds to a romantic atmosphere. The table attendants are very friendly and know what they are talking about. They will make sure that your special night out is really special. The specialty of this restaurant is meat so if you like meat you should try one of their steak dishes. But if you are not, don't worry. They have one of the best salad bars that you can ever find. Overall the food is phenomenal. Before you go to Fogo de Chao try and starve all day, otherwise if you are not really hungry you should not go to this place. The check will be pricey but you won't even notice it after having one of the best dinners you can ever have.

Value - 4

Harry Caray's Restaurant (www.harrycarays.com)

Gibson's in Rosemont is ten times better than the one downtown, especially when it comes to service and the crowd.
