The Aloha Grill has recently changed it's name to Aloha Eats. For those of you who loved the Aloha Grill and were struck by a jolt of fear by that first sentence, take heart. The Aloha Grill's name is the only thing that's changed, apparently for legal reasons. What legal reasons, exactly? Well, it seems that this local Chicago eatery has been so popular that it's feeling out the idea of offering franchises and needed to change the name to do so.
The next question, of course, is: Why is Aloha Eats so popular? Well, this Hawaiian-themed restaurant has been able to use its great, authentic, reasonably priced cuisine to string together a faithful following of both lifelong Chicagoans and former residents of the Aloha State who are now residing in Chicago. This fan-base that Aloha Eats enjoys is willing to go to extreme lengths, sometimes traveling great distances, just to get a hearty meal.
And what meals they are! Aloha Eats offers great plate lunches to its customers, the most expensive of which is still under $9. Plate lunch options include delicious Hawaiian options like the Chicken Katsu or the Kalua Pork, or more Americanized dishes like the Hamburger Steak, Pork Cutlet, or BBQ Chicken. As one might suspect, as well, the Hawaiian-inspired seafood dishes are extraordinary. They include simple Fried Shrimp, Grilled Salmon, and Mahi-Mahi (fried or grilled, whichever you prefer). Each plate lunch is served with heaping portions of rice and macaroni salad, either of which can be substituted with french fries upon request. The truth is, though, that anyone who skipped the macaroni salad would be sorely mistaken in the act of doing so. It is one of the better side dishes, and most unique ones, that you're likely to find anywhere in Lincoln Park.
