NFL Fantasy Football; RB's NOT to Draft
Thousands of fantasy team owners every year regret draft picks moments after they are made. There are huge question marks on several players which need to be looked at before you consider drafting them, whether the player will receive less playing time or are battling an offseason injury. Here are several running backs to think twice about before drafting and why:
Willie Parker, RB Steelers: Reduced workload. Rashard Mendenhall who was drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2008 draft will compliment Parker and receive a decent amount of carries. With Roethlisberger receiving more responsibility in the passing game and with the Steelers talented receivers expect lower numbers for Parker. Unless you can grab him in the 3rd round or later, pass on Parker.
Matt Forte, RB Chicago Bears: Matt Forte was dubbed the default starter after Cedric Benson's releas. Now with Kevin Jones on the roster don't expect Forte to put up monster numbers, if he even starts. Keving Jones is a very good running back when healthy and should take away many carries that Forte would have received otherwise.
Shaun Alexander, RB Free Agent: Alexander has not been picked up as of yet by any team and for a reason. Alexander has been accused of just not trying anymore. Even if/when picked up it is unlikely that Alexander will produce much in 2008. Training camps have been under way and preseason is comming upon us fast. If Alexander wants any playing time he needs to sign with a team fast.
Jamal Lewis, RB Cleveland Browns: Lewis still has skills but is injury prone and near the end of his productive days.
Sammy Morris, RB New England: Unless you have Maroney on your team, Morris is a wasted pick. New England does not run the ball as it is, Morris won't get many carries for New England.
Good luck and happy drafting!
