has gotten as many rave reviews as seen in The Dark Knight reviews. Even critics who don't review super hero films positively find something to rave about for their The Dark Knight reviews. But even though all the rave reviews lead off with Heath Ledger and the Joker, The Dark Knight reviews find even more to rave at.
Rottentomatoes.com has a collection of all The Dark Knight reviews thus far. The Dark Knight has a soaring rating of 94% positive reviews, with 154 positive The Dark Knight reviews, with only 10 negative ones. The overall rating for The Dark Knight on Rottentomatoes is a whopping 8.5 out of 10. The Rottentomatoes consensus says, "Dark, complex and unforgettable, The Dark Knight succeeds not just as an entertaining comic book film, but as a richly thrilling crime saga."
The blurbs for The Dark Knight reviews have all kinds of hyperbole about the greatness of the movie and of Heath Ledger's final role as the Joker. One blurb from the website WaffleMovies.com says The Dark Knight is "The Godfather of summer movies. Yes, I mean it." Another blurb from eFilmCritic.com says The Dark Knight is "dare I say, one of the most important American films to be made in years."
In addition, major film critics like Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper, as well as papers like Variety, the Hollywood Reporter, Time, Village Voice, USA Today, the LA Times and Slate give The Dark Knight their highest rating.
In the case of Heath Ledger, a review from TV Guide says Ledger has "a presence so malevolently unpredictable that it remains palpable even when he's not on screen." And a Dark Knight review from the website NewsBlaze says Ledger's Joker is "one of the most demonic, pure incarnations of nightmarish instant classic movie villains."
