2008 Fantasy Football Team by Team Analysis: Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks were able to win the division with ease last year. They finished 10-6, and had good balance both on offense and defense. The Seahawks lost the face of their franchise this offseason, but the combination of Julius
Jones and T.J. Duckett is ready to replace Shaun Alexander. Here's how the 2007 Seattle Seahawks compared to the rest of the league on offense and defense.

Offense (Ranking)

Points/Game 24.6 (10th)

Total Yards/Game 348.9 (9th)

Rush Yards/Game 101.2 (20th)

Pass Yards/Game 247.8 (8th)

Defense (Ranking)

Points/Game 18.2 (7th)

Total Yards/Game 321.8 (15th)

Rush Yards/Game 102.8 (12th)

Pass Yards/Game 219.1 (19th)

The Seahawks look poised to repeat as the 2008 division champion of the NFC West....which really isn't saying much. They appear to have good balance on offense and defense, but a lack of top-notch, game breaking talent could hurt them. Let's take a look at the options the Seattle Seahawks present for fantasy football teams this year:

Quarterback

Matt Hasselbeck had pretty solid numbers in 2007 considering he doesn't have an abundance of quality playmaking receivers on his team. He finished with 3,966 yards passing including 28 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions. Those are solid fantasy numbers. Hasselbeck is a consistent quarterback, who rarely makes mistakes. He is on the bubble of being a top-tier quarterback, but if you decide to concentrate on running backs and wide receivers early, Hasselbeck can be a quality starter for your team.

Running Back

The Seahawks will employ a thunder and lightning combination in 2008 in the form of Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett. Duckett will get the short yardage looks, as well as goal line opportunities. He may be a great backup option in leagues that focus solely on touchdowns for points. Jones will get the yardage, carries, and receptions between the 20s. He may be a great option in leagues that tend to focus on yardage, and especially those that offer points for receptions.
