Starbucks closure list in New Jersey: Caffeine. Its a wonderful thing. And the drinks that Starbucks serves are first rate. But now we find that they have decided to close some 600 stores. What are we to do now? The list of all the soon to be closed stores. Out of 600 stores, we here in New Jersey are lucky in that we see only the one store in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, is to be closed.

That is something of a reprieve for those of us that need such products to get through the day. At least that is how it appears at first. But the site above states only those that are to be closed at the end of the month. Quick mathematicians will see that there are not 600 stores listed. When are the rest to be closed. And a better question is why do they have to do this at all?

They say on that same page "Starbucks is listening to customers, partners and the communities where we operate and is working to address their questions while we continue to transform the business." This is something that I would have to call soft language. What is really going on? Is it that they want to transform the business or is it that they have decided that serving community needs is not as important as profits?

Back on April 23, they had some decent profits, their own investor relations department admitted it when they stated the following, "For the second fiscal quarter ended March 30, 2008, the company now expects revenue to increase 12 percent and earnings per share (EPS) to be $0.15, compared with $0.19 per share for the same period a year ago. Starbucks estimates that costs associated with the implementation of its transformation agenda, and charges related to the rationalization of its store portfolio, negatively impacted EPS by approximately $0.03 per share in its fiscal 2008 second quarter."

There is no coffee bean shortage, the price of a Starbucks specialty coffee is way to high (No wonder that cop tried make a deal and have his way for his services)for recreation expenses in this economy. Where do you think people are going to begin when they start cutting back on necessary spending. "Starbucks". There are so many other options (WaWa,Panaras,Dunking Donuts,7-11) to satisfy a coffee craving that Starbuck shoot's it's self in the foot with their prices. Listen Starbucks, It's just coffee. Keep the locations open and add free refills and special price days. Who's running this company a woman? Don't make emotional decisions. Be smart, change prices not close stores!
