find something special, say good-bye.

cry a little, let it go.

and they say, if it's really yours, it'll come back. (or you'll come back to it)

so you go on with your life. i do. i go on with mine.

milestone, step. up. down. up. down.

i've been here before (it was scarier the first time)

now i know what to do (grinandbearitgrinandbearit)

and on the days when the weakness courses through my body like it's being dripped into a vein, i do not cry (you're pretty you're strong you can do this)

and they look at you like, look at that mask, i see it, i'm so smart, i see through it, you're messed up, you think you're okay but you're messed up, and you wear a mask (this is the first time in a long time i've taken it off, actually)

your imagination never showed you this

your imagination showed you the crisp clear colors, the perfect fire engine red of the manicured nails, but it never showed you what days like these when you really lived as a teenager would be like

and now your vision is perfect and you see these days (but you can't tell if her nails are red or pink)

pretty little girl, wrap her up in a bow

and your imagination sees the color of your hair ten years from now, but nothing else

and ten years from now, you won't be able to name the color of your hair but you'll know what's going on (you hope, you hope)

pretty little girl.
