Sonar Nightclub in Baltimore Caters to a Variety of People

If you're looking for a good place to hang out on a weekend evening, Sonar in Baltimore is the place to be. Sonar is an all-inclusive club that offers a variety of music and entertainment to please everyone. Sonar has three different areas - main, club, and lounge.

The main stage is where big events are held. Sonar's main stage can hold up to a thousand people and has a relaxed atmosphere, with a bar long the back wall and bar tables and chairs at the back of the dance floor. The stage is easy to see from most areas, and despite how large the room is, there always seems to be room to dance. Prices and acts vary for main stage events. If you are looking to just go clubbing, Friday night usually brings the Taxlo Indie Dance Party, with $5 admission and a selection of different kinds of music. Better yet, it features $1 drinks from 9-11 if you're old enough to drink, but for those who aren't, Sonar is one of the few clubs left in Baltimore that is 18 and over on the weekend. During the rest of the week, the main stage often has live acts, ranging from lesser known DJs to multi-band parties to popular bands such as Hoobastank, coming to Sonar on November 28th.

Sonar also features the club and the lounge, which are their smaller venues, though particularly large events spread across all three. The club holds about 300 people, while the lounge is just what it sounds like - an area to lounge, including leather couches and billiard tables - with a capacity of 150.

Price ranges vary for the events, but with special free shows, there is something everyone can afford.

Located on East Saratoga Street, Sonar scores points both for it's easy accessibility (there is free parking across the street and a side door for wheelchair access), and for it's friendly, diverse vibe. Though Sonar does not tout itself as such, the clientele could classify it as a pansexual club. A night at Sonar provides dance partners for everyone, and it is just as common to see two men dancing as a man and a woman or two women. Furthermore, any style goes, so if you show up in jeans and a T-shirt or in a fancy glitter dress, you'll fit in regardless.
