Baby dolls are supposed to be lifelike, but the Reborn Baby Dolls are eerie. Some might say they are borderline creepy, but the artistic minded collector will see them as astonishing realistic works of art. In some cases, they might even break the hearts of those who have lost a child. To fully appreciate their astonishing lifelike characteristics, you would have to come up close and personal with these reborn babies that are authentic down to skin color, hair, creases, and even facial expressions.

I must admit that these dolls moved me to tears. Their expressions, their skin, every last detail is 100% accurate -- until you realize that they do not move. They are just dolls, after all. This is when the creepiness hits. They are non-moving, perfect babies that seem to be frozen in time. Some can be outfitted with motorized breathing functions that make the little doll appear to be breathing. Although lifelike dolls are amazing, this particular kind is bordering on the macabre.

Police Link reports that the reborn baby dolls are causing a huge problem as aficionados are leaving them in vehicles only to have law enforcement summoned to the scene by frantic onlookers who see the non moving infants in locked cars with their eyes wide open. Panicked police officers, rescue personnel, and even everyday citizens have smashed in car windows in an effort to rescue the lifeless little babies, only to be stunned by ending up with a doll in their hands.

Reborn Babies are making a huge impact on the doll collector market in Australia and Scotland, but America is sure to follow suit very shortly. These dolls have a huge following online already, and in addition to the original creator of these reborn babies, there are also others who are seeking to imitate what appears to be a goldmine waiting to happen. In some cases these dolls are used during therapy for those grieving the loss of an infant. It is alleged that they are doing a world of good in this instance, but to others this is simply a spine-chilling application for a doll. Granted, unless you are in this position, it is hard to think of how you might act.

I would not be surprised if a new law is passed to not have these visible in one's vehicle.

I've seen lots of auctions on eBay for reborn dolls - people really do a great job of rehabbing old dollies and making them new.

I've been following these for years. Excellent work on this one! I confess that they creep me out but I understand how some people can see them as works of art.
