This poem is about my husband's heart attack. Recently, he scared me with another episode that turned out to be something else. However, it still brought back the memories of Christmas, 2006.

Fear hovers around me, thick in the air I breathe.
My mind tries to hide from the descending darkness.
The doctor's words echo throughout my heart and soul,
But just as I start sliding into the abyss
Something lifts me up and gently caresses me
Whispering words of comfort into my ear.
I sit there wondering why I do not panic.
The life of my soul mate rests in a stranger's hands.
I pray to God to thank Him for keeping me sane.
Warmth touches my skin and spreads throughout my body;
A feeling of calmness suddenly surrounds me
But I know my life is incomplete without him.
He is the other half that ensures I am whole.
Without him no light can penetrate the darkness.
Only he accepts me exactly as I am.
I will be forever lost without human love.
I may have to face my worst fear - - being alone.
Hands reach out to touch me and a voice finally speaks.
"He'll be fine," it says. I clutch the words to my heart.
At last I draw breath certain he won't die today.
I treasure the reprieve with grateful abandon.
I know I will feel his arms around me once more.
I raise my eyes to the heavens and say a prayer.
"Thank you, Fathe, " for giving us this precious gift.
I hope we never take it for granted again.

Praise the Lord! It's an amazing mystery that He makes us one with our spouse when we come together in marriage. Beautifully worded poem

Charlie, I can relate having been there both with husband suffering the real thing and with false alarms.
