The City of Chicago provides Explore Chicago Audio Tours which can be seen on a home computer or downloaded and used with an MP3 player as one travels the city. The tours are typically available in five languages; Chines Mandarin, English, German,Japanese and Spanish. The tours are great and feature local citizens and in some cases persons directly involved with the subject or site under discussion at that moment.
Chicago Blues
One of my favorite Chicago Audio Tours is "Chicago Blues" . Chicago Blues is narrated by Mr. Buddy Guy. The tour actually includes some of the great personalities of Chicago Blues music as they related stories of Sweet Home Chicago.
The tour has five sections; Introduction, It Happened Here, Travelin Blues,Featured Performer Profiles and Goin To Chicago. The intro explains how to use the audio tour and basic background information on what the tour will be about. In the In Happened Here section - you listen to the Traveling Tracks while you follow the map and site instructions. This makes the audio tour very flexible. If are at home you see images on the computer but if you are physically present you see the real thing. It Happened Here has 11 locations to cover. and there are 4 more in the Travelin Blues Section. There are 5 profiles of feature famous Chicago Blues personalities. and finally information on the Annual Chicago Blues Festival held every year.
The quality of the audio is just fantastic. The lenght of the tour depends on how long you spend at each of the many sights or sections. Music lover or not - this is a great tour.
