The long shadows of the November evening stretched
from the woodland across the golden meadow.
like icy fingers grabbing for the warmth of mittens-
the meadow offered no warmth,
to either the creeping shadows or the small
creatures scurrying about
the fingered shadows and passing sunset
plunged the meadow into darkness
the wind began to whip up and around t
the tall prairie grass swayed

in the impeding darkness
the grass lands took on the effect of the sea
rolling with the pitch of the wind
the early November moon cast
bare bone shadows of the woodland trees
out on to the meadow
swaying with the sea of grasses
giving a turbulent and chaotic appearance
a menacing presence landed on a nearby oak
The owl called out a throaty whoooo--

To herald his hunt

Beautiful! It amazes how you can convey such a powerful image with so few words. You rock!

The imagery is best in this piece. Especially the image of the grass rolling like the waves of the sea. Excellent!

:) You post poetry. Thanks good to see with how AC doesn't really reward it. It's also a really good poem.
