As Americans, we are currently witnessing a time of unprecedented history in Washington. Our country has finally evolved to the point where a black man, better known as Barack Obama, has a strong chance of winning the Presidential election. Throughout his campaign, Obama has been striving to spread sentiments of unity and hope across America. He has continually expressed his steadfast desire to instill change in our country, which is a goal that exemplifies the ambitious nature, strong work ethic, smart mind, and personable character in which a President should possess. While some individuals may be reluctant to take a chance on Obama for fear that he is too inexperienced, too naïve, or simply too good to be true, they can be firmly reassured by the ample evidence in support of his ability to lead America. Obama is especially passionate about reaching out to the skeptics, for he is determined to make Americans feel as though they are part of a cohesive unit rather than a handful of divisive subgroups:
Amid the partisanship and bickering of today's public debate, he still believes in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose - a politics that puts solving the challenges of everyday Americans ahead of partisan calculation and political gain.
He realizes the corruption and cronyism that is often associated with Washington has left many potential supporters in a state of disillusionment. He also understands that strong feelings of distrust, anger, and fear were evoked by events such as 9/11, and as a result, it has become difficult for people to believe in the existence of positive change. Skepticism has also arisen from Obama's articulate speech and perpetual optimism. Some politicians, for example, believe that he is a man of all words and no action. In fact, such individuals are convinced that Obama is foolishly trying to will a sense of false hope and encouragement into our country:
