What Does The Word Psychic Really Mean?

If someone said to you that they just had a psychic reading, what would you think?  Would you say that a psychic is someone that worships the devil or believes in occult activity?  I must tell you that the word psychic can mean so many different things.  In todays world, psychics are believing in different things.  You have some psychics that are Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and from all faiths and walks of life.  I would not say that they are your traditional believers.  These are people that usually come from a religious background and they are not necessarily all practicing witchcraft. 

In the past, psychics were known to wear exotic clothing and create spells.  In today's modern world, psychics are known to have their own set of belief.  Just ask any modern day psychic and they will tell what their personal beliefs are.  I have always been a firm believer in never judging a book by its cover and we must be careful that we practice what we preach.  A psychic can be a prophet in today's society as well.  I have seen many modern day prophets calling themselves psychic because the word psychic does not necessarily have to mean someone that practices or uses witchcraft.  

The idea of a psychic using their gift often scares people because the modern day person may not have a strong third eye or sixth sense.  Psychics have had these gifts all of their lives and sometimes it takes a psychic their entire lifetime to master their psychic gift.  World famous psychics like Sylvia Browne, John Edward and James Van Praagh have all proven themselves to have a psychic gift.  They can balance themselves enough to give prophetic words to others that are in need.  These psychics have literally helped thousands of people, if not millions.
