Elliptical machines give your body a complete workout. They work your lower body and legs, as well as your arms and upper body. Compare that to the treadmill which only works your leg muscles.
While treadmills are still a popular fitness machine and offer a great workout, elliptical machines are becoming the fitness trainer of choice.
The low impact workout
Experts agree, the safest and most beneficial workout you can get is a low impact workout. It greatly reduces the wear and tear on your joints and lessens the chance of injury.
Running can be hard on your knees and lower back. In fact, when you run, every step puts 3 times the force of your body's weight on your knees.
You don't experience that with an elliptical exercise machine. With the machines elliptical motion, you don't have the impact you do when running or jogging.
Upper and lower body workout.
An elliptical machine works both your upper and lower body at the same time. Due to the range of motion it provides, you'll work and strengthen your quads, back, chest and arms.
To have one piece of fitness equipment that can do all of this at the same time is unheard of. You are able to maximize your workout time and achieve much quicker results.
Elliptical exercise machines will also go in reverse to allow you to work even more muscle groups you exercise, the more you strengthen your body and lose the fat.
Another area to make note of is the fact that elliptical machines will have a longer life. There are less moving parts than a treadmill, along with another big benefit. There is no motor.
I think you can better understand why elliptical machines are popular. With the low impact workout they give to your upper and lower body, it's easy to get the workout you desire without the beating your body doesn't need.
