What's better than going on vacation? You get to go to new places and see new things. The only problem with that is, shortly after returning home, memories start to fade. Many people show off their vacation memories in a photo album, and that's okay, but if you really want to show others what you did on vacation create a memorable centerpiece that holds your vacation memorabilia - all in a nice fish bowl.

No matter where you went or what you did a fish bowl is the perfect way to display the memories in your home. The fish bowl takes up little space yet says a whole lot. You decide on the size of the bowl depending upon how many things you are going to display. Your memory tank can be a small aquarium or an ordinary size bowl. Clear glass is best to show off all your memories.

There are many different ways to display your vacation memorabilia. If you've recently gone to the beach you can put sand in the bottom of the fish bowl. In the sand you can place a miniature lighthouse, a starfish and some shells. Place postcards or photos up against the glass with the sand and other items behind the pictures.

If you will be setting the finished fish bowl against a wall or other surface you can make a one-sided fish bowl. Cut a picture of the ocean from a magazine and put it on one side of the fish tank, with the picture facing the front of the bowl. Now arrange your miniatures and memorabilia up against the backdrop of the ocean.

There are any number of things you can place in the bottom of the tank. Marbles, shredded paper or foil, colored glass pieces, pennies or even beads are great as a start to the memory tank. Fill the tank about a third full with the beads or marbles.

Craft stores are full of things you can use to show others what you did on vacation. Tiny boats, animals, tepees, vehicles and other miniatures will grab the attention of those who see your fish tank. Arrange the assorted items in the fish tank.

Takeaways
  • Make a fish bowl arrangement that displays memorabilia from your vacation.
  • Put postcards and photos up against the glass of the fish bowl.
  • Add sand, shredded paper, shredded foil or other filler in the bottom of the bowl.
