If you wear clip-on hair pieces it's important that you take good care of them. Hair pieces aren't cheap so you'll want them to last as long as possible. There's an easy storage closet you can make for hair pieces whether they're long or short. The mini closet will let you easily hang the hair pieces rather than laying them out flat on a table or dresser. When the hair pieces aren't stored properly they can gather dust or even get something spilled on them. With the mini closet you'll never worry about those things again.

A simple shoe box is all you need to create the hair closet. If you wear short clip-on hair pieces you can get by with a child's shoe box. For longer pieces choose a much larger shoe box. Glue four beads, spools or other "legs" onto the bottom of the box (formerly one short side of the box). This will allow you to easily open the "door" to the closet. The lid or "door" of the box can open from left to right, or from right to left, depending on which you prefer.

To hold the clip-on hair pieces stretch a ribbon across the top of the box, on the inside. If you wear short hair pieces you'll have room to add two or three more ribbons, one in the center and one closer to the bottom. If you wear long hair pieces only use one ribbon to hang your hair.

Glue one end of the ribbon to one inside panel of the box, towards the top. Make sure the glue is completely dry. Stretch the ribbon to the opposite side and glue into place. Use a clothespin to hold the ribbon in place until the glue is dry. It's important that the ribbon be taut to hold the hair pieces.

If you wear short pieces, and you'll be placing more than one ribbon holder in the box, go down a few inches and glue the next ribbon. If you glue one end of each ribbon down one side, allow them to dry, then glue the ribbons to the other side, you'll be finished in no time. To make sure you have accurate spacing between the ribbons you can glue one ribbon completely, hang a clip-on hair piece on it, then drop slightly below that area to glue the next ribbon.

Takeaways
  • Hair pieces left out on dressers and tables can become damaged.
  • It's easy to make a hair closet out of a shoe box.
  • A hair closet can protect your expensive clip-on hair pieces.
