When you think of tourism in the United States the same cities come up over and over and we all know which cities those are. However the same approach is always taken when comparing the cities and that is raw total numbers. One must think, is this really the best way to measure tourism and the image of a city? Think about GDP for instance which ranks the gross domestic power per person in each city. Imagine if this was done the same way traditional tourism numbers are acquired which is by simply taking the whole number and not taking into account the number of inhabitants that live in the area. Would that really make any sense? So if you have 1,000 people living in a place with a net income of a million or 10,000 people living in a city with a net income of 2 million, which one is truly a better place in terms of economic terms? Of course the answer is the 1,000 people with a net income of 1 million because each individual person will have a higher income.
