Fearful

I am fearful that our relationship is purely physical,
although I am sure that if I search my scattered memories
long enough, I will find a slightly different view
among the remains of a shattered dream.
For now I must consider it an enigma.

I am free, you are bound.
I reach for the stars and circle the moon,
you prefer your feet firmly planted on the ground.
I am an open book, not a secretive soul,
you are always lost within yourself,
to draw you out is a challenge
that takes it toll.

I walk along the realm of possibility,
you grasp too tightly to your present reality.
I am a gypsy, always searching for peace,
you fight a battle,
that's existence has ceased.

I fear that your water will put out my fire,
but I strongly believe that our connection is higher.
I want to help you to achieve your heart's desire,
but maintaining my self is extremely dire.

I once thought that love was getting lost in each other,
a romantic notion in a silly girl's head,
I now know that love is more complicated than this
and not something that can very simply be said.

Wow, this one resonates with me in regards to my previous relationships. You are right, love is very complicated.
