Woosh... I close my eyes and I can see The Bullet Train running along Mission Bay during my 8 am run. It's a beautiful, efficient and blue and gold vision of hope for weaning dependence on foreign oil. See, in my vision I see myself jogging, I see the train, I see the bay and I even see cars on the road. The most beautiful part of this daydream? While there are cars on the road, there's no gridlock. The Bullet Train took away the misery and frustration of gridlock when it reduced the number of drivers by three-fourths. The fewer drivers on the road, the fewer drivers at the pump. The fewer drivers at the pump means that American citizens have a few more dollars in the banks (which haven't closed due to the continuation of the current recession). This is just one of many reasons that Americans need projects like The Bullet Train. It's the New Deal for the New Millennium and here's why.
