When accidentally you forgot your Administrator account password for your Windows XP computer, you will never be able to log on again your account except if you have created a "Password Reset Disk". Or else, you need to reformat your computer to use it again. So be sure to create a "Password Reset Disk". Here's how:To create a password reset disk you need an external disk drive (a floppy disk or USB) to save there your Password Reset Disk File to be able to re-create your new Administrator Password.
1. First go to User Account by clicking Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.
2. Then select any Administrator account type and on the upper left menus, click "Prevent a forgotten Password".
3. Forgot Password Wizard will open. Click Next and you need to choose on the external disk drive connected on your computer.
4. Click Next then enter your current Administrator account password and Click Next.
5. Your computer will now create a Password Reset Disk on your USB or any other external drives then click Finish.
When you look on your external drive, there is a Password Backup File named "userkey". That is your Password Reset Disk and make sure your the only one using that external drive because someone can use that drive to change your Administrator Password.
