When you write on the net, you have two choices, open a page and hammer out your experience and knowledge or combine your existing knowledge with additional learning by reading up lots more on the topic and adding information to your article. Though reading on the net may not throw up the most reliable, validated data but it's a start. For a couple of my articles I did the reading on the net to enhance my knowledge and to add some meat to the articles and what a lovely experience it was. I would like to share one thrilling insight I got by pure chance.
I first wrote some articles on my trip to Egypt. In one such article, relating to day 5, I mentioned my visit to the valley of Kings and temple of Hatshepsut, the queen who was Pharaoh, with a successful long reign. She was successful in warfare early in her reign, but is generally considered to be a pharoh who reigned a long peaceful era. She re-established trading relationships lost during a foreign occupation and brought great wealth to Egypt. During her reign Hatshepsut raised the calibre of Ancient Egyptian architecture to a standard, comparable to classical architecture, that would not be rivaled by any other culture for a thousand years. As soon as she was nominated as Pharoh she wore the full regalia of a pharaoh, including the traditional false beard of pharaohs to indicate that she ruled Egypt in her own right (as a man and even dropped the 't' from the end of her name).
Ok, nothing special except as a woman I'm happy to note that such great positions were held by women in the past and she did a good job of it. Now this amazing fact: On the walls of the Hatshepsut temple is the following proclamation with the backing of the temple of Amun that 'she was the divine Wife of the god Amun': The story on the wall depicts it thus:
Amun took the form of the noble King Thuthmose and found the queen sleeping in her room. When the pleasant odours that proceeded from him announced his presence she woke. He gave her his heart and showed himself in his godlike splendour. When he approached the queen she wept for joy at his strength and beauty and he gave her his love...
