The long shadows fall;
In the afternoon sun;
Midsummer heat;
Baking the ground;
Images swimming;
Haziness fills my eyes;
Water pours from my skin;
My feet are weighed down;
By the heavy saturation;
And lack of fresh air;
Lazy days of August;
Nights with no rest;
Steam rising upward;
From a sudden rain shower;
Offers no relief;
So in my blessed abode, I hide;
Sheltered from the baking sun;
The only sound that I hear;
In the everlasting stillness;
Is the steady whir of a window fan;
Lulling me to sleep

The Long Shadows

During a hot, and humid day, not even a shady tree can offer relief.

Tell me about it. It's 100 degrees here most of the day rightnow or atleast like 98, and then with the humidity, makes ya not want to do anything. Nice poem :)
