The long shadows fall;In the afternoon sun;
Midsummer heat;
Baking the ground;
Images swimming;
Haziness fills my eyes;
Water pours from my skin;
My feet are weighed down;
By the heavy saturation;
And lack of fresh air;
Lazy days of August;
Nights with no rest;
Steam rising upward;
From a sudden rain shower;
Offers no relief;
So in my blessed abode, I hide;
Sheltered from the baking sun;
The only sound that I hear;
In the everlasting stillness;
Is the steady whir of a window fan;
Lulling me to sleep

The Long Shadows
During a hot, and humid day, not even a shady tree can offer relief.
