The first ever Mile High Music Festival is scheduled for July 19th and 20th and for all intents and purposes this is going to be a rocking, green affair. This is a far cry from the free for alls that used the accompany the Red Rocks concerts of the late 1980s where - in spite of strong prohibitions - the scent of burning herbs used to permeate the atmosphere some six to eight hours before the actual concert.

Denver fans have always been loyal and willing to brave the blazing sun, pouring rain, and even driving snow for some good entertainment and the Music Festival is no exception. If my last attendance at a Taste of Colorado is any indication - a free event that habitually draws about 500,000 food lovers -- this is going to be another popular, crowded event. The Brighton Standard Blade reports that tens of thousands are expected to attend this weekend but because ticket sales continue on the day of the event a final number is hard to anticipate.

Where is the Mile High Music Fest?

Dick's Sporting Good Park at the corner of Quebec Street and East 56th Avenue in Commerce City, Colorado will be the venue for this extravaganza. With three entrances into the park and ample parking, this is the perfect site for an event that is thought to bring in a huge number of visitors.

What time does the Music Festival start?

The two day even opens each day at 10:30 AM although the parking lots will be open for early gatherings by 9:00 AM. Denverites have had long years of Bronco football games to hone their pre-event partying skills and the Mile High Music Festival will be no exception. The event ends at 11:00 PM each day.

How much does it cost?

While parking is free of charge, the cost of attendance is $150 for a two day pass and $85 for a one day ticket. To gain access to the VIP area, plan on spending $495.

That's expensive! What is the lineup?
