The House that Ruth built is closing after this season and will soon be the House that construction crews knocked over. The All-Star break in Yankee Stadium was the final goodbye to a stadium that is over 80 years old.

First let me mention that I am a Red Sox fan. However, I'm not cheering the fall of Yankee Stadium. I don't know why they are knocking it down. America is the only country I know that demolishes its history. The Romans didn't knock down the Coliseum, the Egyptians didn't get bored of the pyramids, and can you imagine what would have happened if the Chinese had just decided, we don't really need this wall anymore.

Yankee Stadium is a historical baseball stadium, probably more historical, because of all of the Hall of Famers that played there, than any other in history. They could still play baseball in it, but they had an extra 1.3 billion sitting around and decided they need a new stadium. That is just the greedy Yankees being the greedy Yankees, but that's not what I have a problem with. What I have a problem with is that Yankee Stadium, in 2 years time, will become nothing. It won't be there anymore. Now, why do that? What could they possibly use that land for that is more important than the baseball history of Yankee Stadium? They should keep it open as a museum, charge admission if you want, I don't care, and make your selves a little money. We all know how the Yankees like money.
