Sensory Stimulation ActivityProject 1: Fun with a zip lock bag
Supplies:
Zip Lock clear plastic bag
Three or four different colors of non-toxic paint
Activity:
Have each child choose the colors they would like to work with. Give each child a zip lock bag (Adult supervision a must for infants). Squeeze about a tablespoon full of each paint into the bag. Once all the colors have been added, seal the bag extracting as much of the air as possible from the bag.
Now for the FUN part: Have the children squeeze the bag moving the paint around to create TERRIFIC images. Babies love it because of how it feels - very stimulating - and toddlers love it because of how they can independently create things.
Project 2: For OLDER toddlers or TOTAL adult supervision with younger children
Fun with MARBLES
Supplies:
Empty paint tray or disposable aluminum tray
Three or four different colors of non-toxic paint
A small bag of marbles
Activity:
Take the empty tray and add about 2 or 3 tbsp of paint of each color. Add the marbles. Have each child take turns turning the tray all around to watch the marbles move about mixing the colors.
Fun because of the visual stimulation. The vibrations of the trays when the marbles are moving create tactile stimulation. Fun for ALL!
Project 3: Glitter extravaganza!
Supplies:
Glitter
Small Paper bags
Glue
Wax paper
Small foam balls
Activity:
Have each child pour a small amount of glitter in their own bag. Have a small amount of glue on the wax paper. Have each child take their own small ball and dip them in the glue - make sure they move it all around to coat the balls with glue. Then they will take the balls with glue and drop them in the paper bag with glitter. Squeeze, twist, and close the top part of the bag and then allow the children to shake their bags. Shake as much as they want - little or a lot. Then take the balls out on place on wax paper to dry.
Each child will have then created their own glitter ball! SO MUCH FUN! Fun idea to do with dad too!
