Used Cars that Offer 40 MPG or More Fuel Efficiency
With fuel prices rocketing many people are rethinking the way they drive and what they drive. Even me, the SUV lover that I am, has had to trade in my gas guzzling Eddie Bauer Expedition for a more fuel efficient vehicle. I have always had in my head that it was kind of ridiculous to
spend money on a new car just to save money in gas but with gas prices as high as they are and even being rumored to be as high as $5 to $8 per gallon within the next year I know that this is no longer the case. Fortunately, car manufacturers are giving us options and there are several cars on the market that offer an unbelievable forty miles per gallon or more fuel efficiency performance.
We all know about the Honda Prius that offers forty-eight miles per gallon in the city and forty-five miles per gallon on the highway or the Smart fortwo car that offers forty-one miles per gallon on the highway but the truth is that there are long waiting lists for these cars due to their high demand and many of us that are feeling the squeeze of high gas prices just can not afford a brand new car at this time.
The 2008 Honda Civic promises forty miles per gallon in the city and forty-five miles per gallon on the highway. It has a MSRP of $22,600, with a base price of just $15,610. For those who can not afford a new car there is still good news. I researched the miles per gallon of a 1998 Honda Civic, a ten year old car, and found that according to CarsDirect.com it averages thirty to thirty-six miles per gallon in the city and thirty-five to forty-four miles per gallon on the highway. I also found several used 1998 Honda Civics for sale through out the internet ranging in price from $2,800 to $7,995.
