Why are religious leaders even involved with the condom use issue? It seems very much a common sense thing here. The world has too many neglected and starving children all over the world. Millions of children die each year in third world countries, where condoms are unheard of.What about the overpopulated countries like India, China, and Japan?
India has a few billion too many people with a very high poverty level. China restricts births to one or two children per family.
Japan isn't poor and starving but their population is at full capacity with millions of aging people, which it hasn't had to contend with at these levels yet. At these levels, we need to try to slow the birth rate down with contraceptives, such as condoms now.
The U.S. is also feeling the problems associated with a growing, aging population coupled with the younger generation's birth rate. People are living longer due to technological advancement and, so, the end result is too many people with too little resources.
Our welfare program is out of control with women producing half a dozen children just to collect money for each child. This only perpetuates a growing and serious problem.
All of the above reasons for birth control are real world issues that affect us all and future generations. It is society's problem - a society made up of thousands of different cultures and religions.
Contraception is not a religious issue, so religious leaders need to either promote condom use for the benefit and future of the world or keep their noses out of this issue.
The only way I can see myself believing that we shouldn't use condoms is if God, himself, came down and broadcast the message. Even then, I'd still question the idea.
Religious leaders aren't God and never met God, so I don't see them as people whose word is gospel. They seem to think and act like they are God's chosen spokespeople but they are not even close. Man chose them with man-made ideas and faith on things that none of us have seen. So, on whose authority are they acting?
