I do not think that angels and aliens should be a theological versus a science fiction argument.

At this point of our understanding, scientific or otherwise, no one on Earth knows who or what angels are. They also do not know who or what aliens are. We do not know either angels or aliens, so we do not know the difference between the two or if one or the other really does exist.

Angels are the theological side of angels and aliens. Aliens are the science fiction side of aliens and angels. Man does not know either, so, in essence, angels and aliens are the same thing, in my opinion.

We do not know or understand angels or aliens. Everything that man says about either being is purely speculation and unfounded without evidence - at least, that we know of.

Theology is our belief about our Creator from a religious standpoint. Religion is just man's faith in what other men have said in the past. I don't know if we can trust those men from the past but, many people do. Angels are supposed to be followers of God and his servants in Heaven. Since no man has ever entered Heaven or Hell, we have no experts on the subject, so, in my opinion, it relegates the subject of angels to fiction or fantasy.

Science fiction is like it says: fictional science, which is also fiction or fantasy, like what I said about angels in theology. The difference between science fiction and theology is that, while theology is trying to pass off fiction as fact, science fiction is not saying that it is anything more than fiction. Which one do we believe? How can we believe either one when one is blatantly telling us that it is fictional and the other is blatantly telling us that its fiction is fact?

This is a rather silly debate because science fiction is telling us that it is fiction. It is not science, which would be an entirely different debate because science is trying to base fact on things that we can see and test using scientific theories. We are talking about science fiction, which tells us that it is not based on facts. Sure, some science fiction is based on some facts of science but, for the most part, it is fiction.

Very interesting argument. Maybe the fact that people are unsure about angels or aliens is the very reason that they challenge the concept on the very subject of each, including religious beliefs.
