My opinion on gun control is that it can be a good thing if it is done correctly and with the right intentions. If guns were only in the hands of good, responsible people, this would be a very good thing.

However, I do not believe that gun control cannot work in today's society because there are too many bad elements in the world. The bad guys ruin the process for everyone. The good guys should have guns to protect themselves from the bad guys, who do not care about the law and have no qualms about killing anyone.

Think about this. Do you really believe that criminals gain possession of their guns through legal channels? I don't think so. If they are criminals, they do not care about the law and therefore would not care about the gun laws.

Any gun laws that the government passes would only be followed by the law-abiding citizens and not the criminals. Criminals would still have access to all of the illegal guns that they want and the government would have no control over that. This means that the government would be preventing the good guys from obtaining guns that could be used to protect them from the criminals.

Gun laws are to be as good as the people who buy guns. It does no good for laws when only a part of the population actually follows them. Since we know that criminals will not follow the law, what good are the gun control laws? It does no good because it will have no affect on most of the crime that goes on in society.

Crime with guns will always occur, regardless of the gun control laws in place. If criminals really want to continue to commit crime with guns, they will always find a way outside of the law.

As a society, do we really want to prevent the good people from having guns that could protect them from crimes perpetrated against them? If the good guys do not have guns and the bad guys do, that really puts the good guys at a disadvantage.
