If you hang a belt on the wall, it doesn't take up much space, and that makes it perfect for creating fun photo displays, message centers and more. The belt can be used to make a special craft for kitchens, bedrooms and even lockers. A magnetic "C" hook is all you need to turn a belt into a magnetic photo display for a locker. Hang the belt on the hook then attach the photos. You can place the photos in small, lightweight frames then glue the frames onto the belt, vertically. The belt will hold quite a few photos if you butt them together. Space them apart to create a totally different look. You can decorate the belt by gluing on silk flowers, faux jewels or other craft supplies.
Many people use the kitchen refrigerator as a message center for others in the family. Some people don't visit the kitchen as frequently as others, though. For these folks make a belt message center for the bedroom. Glue clothes pins onto the belt, vertically. Use the clothes pins to hold paper messages. Use a child's belt and mini clothes pins to make a smaller version of the message center.
Make something similar by gluing a yard stick on the back of the belt. Hang, horizontally, in the back of a closet to hold belts, ties, scarves, purses and more. Make a smaller version to hang in the bedroom and hold jewelry. You can even make one that holds towels in the bathroom.
Make a cute footstool by using a belt and some cans. Gather clean, empty juice cans together by placing one can in the middle and surrounding it with more cans. Wrap the belt around the cans and buckle it. The belt will hold the cans together and form the footstool. If you want, you can wrap the cans in felt or cloth before fastening the belt around them. Create a cool top for the footstool by drawing around it and cutting a pattern. Cut one pattern from foam and one from cloth. Glue the foam onto the cans and the fabric over the top of it.
