Time after time again I wonder why America has such lousy leaders. It's not just in the White House, it's everywhere. From your local government to businesses, from church leaders to the leader of a social organization, to just about anywhere--lousy leadership abounds. Why do some people thing being loud and nasty gets people to do something? Isn't there such a thing as asking?I voted for so and so because he would make a strong leader, is the excuse I hear from people who vote certain ways. What on earth is a strong leader anyhow? Their version seems to be the person who digs up the most dirt on the other candidate, can talk loudly and punish the most people, who keeps on doing things that sacrifice human lives because it makes them look tough, and who generally act like nothing is wrong when it is. Being stubborn and unyielding is not strength, it is just behaving like a spoiled brat who can get away with it.
I would like to hear people say that they voted for so and so because he has strength of character, the ability to stand up for what is right, he cares about what is fair for everyone, he has the courage to be himself, he has wisdom, and knows when to quit pushing something that isn't helping. He should know that it's okay to care about American citizens in general and the land of the free should be just that. Strength to me is making the wisest and best decisions that are actually helpful, not destructive to people.
Today's leaders can be obnoxious, pushy, and absurd. They can ignore the best interests of the people under them in order to please a customer and so forth. When leading, they forget that everyone is a human being and deserves a chance. Are they perfect--no. In fact, they get away with a lot of imperfections while the people under them suffer and even get fired for their mistakes. The American idea of a leader sickens me, to put it quite plainly.
