A Love the Dark Knows

Dark skies are not enough to stop you
Eventide will bring the close
Of a story that was never to begin
Who watches you, who knows?

It won't stop you because it cannot!
The story-a struggle of the heart
Someone sees & someone cares-
Into the night, right from the start.

Love is a given from above, you know
Leave not the evening in flight
Go with the dark, get used to it
Nothing amongst it can kill your light

Can we hope to win in love
If we doubt the power it wills?
Dark can destroy only the story of love-
the love itself is not something it kills

Amongst dark rain you linger
Trusting for you is the fear you trust
Conquer the darkness, embrace the night
Can you not battle evil with lust?

Just survive the darkness;
Embrace it! Struggle through it & live!
The evening is over before you awake
Memories of the end it will give.

But where does the story that is over start?
Who has seen the memories live on?
I must know, you must know
From where this eternal strength is drawn.

Relax the dark emotions that are so high
Love is just an evil struggle divine
Why must I keep repeating the truth?
Is it not, "what is mine, is mine?"

Sorry weakness, love over in the night
Darkness too much to live, you say?
Do we listen with only deaf ears?
Or will we become winners only of the day.

Sighs forever, along with the pain
Dreaming cannot help me-
You will soon be proud again-
I will cry tears silently.

Just a while-
Morning's on its way.
Give in
Live in
Happy thoughts of day.
It is done,
Before begun-
I guess we both tried
To survive,
To stay alive-
Or have we just lied?
Is going
Without knowing
Worth the pain?
Do we want this
To haunt us?
Will we gain?

Will we risk the loss of love forever
Because of the dark evening we won't face?
Our stories are done & closed together,
Are we proud we don't have a trace
Of evil, darkness, love, or lust--
Why follow what we don't think we must?

Dark skies ARE enough to stop us.
Eventide will STILL bring the close
Of the story; truth we couldn't face.
We watched ourselves through the woes,
And couldn't, wouldn't, try the dark for love;
Lost our strength, but no one knows.
