When you turn one hundred years old, the party has got to be big, and that is exactly what the Model T Ford is going to get; a weeklong gala celebrating the centennial of one of our nation's pioneering moments. Yep, that's right, the good old Model T hits the big double zero this year and Richmond, Indiana is stepping out in style to do it up right.

With close to one thousand Ts coming from forty-five states and nine countries, it's bound to be a gathering like few have ever seen. On the docket are some of your basics like a car show and parade, but there are a few specials as well. There will be an old-fashioned baseball game, a vintage fly-in, and even some racing. There will be activities for the general public as well as some just for the T owners. In fact "There is so much to do you won't want to choose" is the motto of the week. Whether people are avid admirers of antique vehicles or just like to watch folks have fun there is sure to be something for all.

You might be asking yourself, why Richmond, Indiana? It's not by chance, I assure you. The Model T Ford Club of America has its headquarters in Centerville, Indiana, which is just down the road from Richmond. A member of the Australian chapter of the club made the suggestion ten years ago for this little shindig. Only as the years have passed their idea of a backyard Bar-B-Q get together has grown into the largest gathering of Ts since they left the factory.

In February of 2008 Ford Motor Company stepped up to the plate as lead sponsor for the even and is promising to bring everything from prototypes to a small selection from the Henry Ford Museum. They have also mentioned bringing in media from around the globe offering Richmond a chance to strut her stuff for the world to see. So the paint cans have come out supplying a fresh new face for all to enjoy. Flags are flying proudly and banners of welcome are popping up in surrounding communities. Hundreds of people, both members of the MTFCA and non-members alike have donated of their time and effort in order to make this week a success.
