Sexy Mormon Missionary Calendar Raises Concerns; Creator Chad Hardy Excommunicated from Church

Missionaries "bare" their testimony...

Well, whoda thunk it? Mormon missionary boys seem to always be full of surprises. I've known quite a few of them as an investigator and member of the church. I've been inactive for some time now, but I still stay in touch with a few of them...

Missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are generally seen as wholesome, or even downright uptight. While on their missions, they live by a strict code of ethics that most adhere to willingly. It's really difficult for me to believe that some of these same young men who have knocked on doors spreading the Word of Heavenly Father all over the world have now stripped off those stuffy white shirts and posed for what could be called a beefcake calendar.

Now, just to clarify...the missionaries featured in the calendar are NOT nude, nor even close to it. The pictures available on the official website show only boys with their shirts removed. Ironically, the site also offers T-shirts for sale. Maybe we should all buy one and mail them to these boys!

The boys (I can't help it, they seem like little boys to me; maybe I'm old) I've known have come from all over the United States and even other countries. They are all different; they have different backgrounds, different personalities, and unique points of view. Some are more mischievous than others. But it would still be a stretch for me to believe that any of them that I've known would do such a thing. Well, maybe one or two...you know who you are. Just kidding! I'm just kidding!

Now I have to wonder about the effect this is going to have on my teenage daughters...and all the other young women in the ward. Have they seen this calendar? Do they even know about it? I'm guessing it's a pretty hot topic behind closed doors.

That makes me wonder again...is it necessarily a bad thing? Well, I mean, would you rather a nice girl see a rather virtuous boy who has a strong testimony and faith in the church with his shirt off, or just any old boy at all? Hmmm...probably NO boy at all but if you had to pick?
