Being in a world of computers, Riley Poole's (Justin Bartha) mind is used to finding simplicity in complications. It is because of the complications involved to instruct a computer do a simple task. His simple & straight forward mind set was the catalyst to them finding the treasure. All that concerns him is not so much of finding the treasure but more of finding a way out of the under ground cavern alive in the National Treasure movie.

It is to be Riley Poole as the catalyst because no other character among the four was the least in tune about finding the treasure. He is more often than not clueless about history & how it all ties together in a world of riddles & secret images. Yet he may or may not realize that apart from his computer & security system skills & dedication, his contribution to the thinking process/discussions are on occasions critically useful in the National Treasure movie.

An example of Riley's contribution to clue solving is when he mentions about daylight savings time & of course when finding the treasure. Since nobody calls Riley Poole a genius then I shall do it. Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) is an action man while Riley usually works behind the stage & both are geniuses in their own class. He is the perfect working partner for Ben in the National Treasure (2004) movie. While the bad men give the kid who helps read the scripts at the museum $100 & got the last four words to solve the riddle. Then they did a search on it on a major search engine & looked at the top results to see the liberty bell. Which is easier? You tell me.

Riley Poole is always surprised how the lead actor is one step in front of him with answers concerning history in the National Treasure movie. Finally, they found a historical 3D glass that promises to lead them to the treasure by reading a multi layered map behind the US declaration of independence. They almost escape but the bad gouys take his father as hostage in the National Treasure movie. They find a way to secret cave beneath the trinity church, graveyard, & subway near Wall Street. You can also learn something about status quo. Don't you like movies that can teach you something new?
