Tru Blood, HBO's upcoming series, features a race of the closet vampires who are liberated from the need to snack on human blood by a synthetic variety known as tru blood. Naturally there is a Vampire Rights Amendment being debated to protect America's newest oppressed minority

A Vampire Rights Amendment? Next thing you know those blood suckers will be demanding to be called "Undead Americans" and terms like "Vampire", "Nosferatu", and the like will join the "N word" among the words we cannot say ever.

Tru Blood, based on a series of novels by Charlene Harris, is set in Louisiana. Tru Blood is centered around a romance between a psychic, human waitress named Sookie, played by Anna Paquin, and a vampire named Bill played by Stephen Moyer.

The Vampire Rights Amendment and vampires in general are opposed, of course, by the Religious Right, one of Hollywood's standard villains. "God hates fangs" indeed. And what about all of those centuries of treating people like happy meals on legs, to quote another vampire in another series.

Tru Blood, with its obvious metaphors about gays and African Americans and any other victim group, is just the latest in a line of franchises about undead blood suckers. There was the brief and unlamented Moonlight on CBS that had a vampire character who could walk in daylight solely because the show couldn't be bothered with filming at night.

Before Moonlight, there was Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff series Angel. There was no nonsense about vampires being an oppressed minority in those shows. Vampires, except for Buffy's true love Angel and-later-her other lover Spike, were soulless monsters who not only fed on the blood of the living but did anything they wanted because, lacking souls, they also lacked moral sense. Buffy, who started the series as a fashion conscious high schooler, was their relentless hunter. No nonsense about a Vampire Rights Amendment here or any kind of rights. Vampires needed only one thing and that was a wooden stake where it would do the most good.

I dont rally care about wat they think. let em be. NO! let us be! some Vampires dont even drink alldat blood. i only like a scratch once every two weeks. my "normal" friends are depressing. I love anime.i forgot...is there such a thing as a pureblooded vampire...im very forgetfull. i alsothink that im too joyfull... the only reason i evebother doin dais might be cause i dont know wat to do with my life... due to the fact that im stuck inside cause my parents are scared that i may kill someone/somethin. for some reason i like noodles...my mom bought them for my siblings once and yeah... itwas good i just noticed that i type in a weird way. like in anime...how it looks like they're just typin hiuwuhfoq8ufiuo but they're really typin somethin like "the cat jumped over the sun... and somehow managd to survive..." i tried to type like dat once... insted i typed "wumcmcan8hf e;..." it was weird. wat are "humans" to say that Vampires are NOT "normal" we could be normal... or not...HaHa...IDK

Its about time we got some kind of rights! We have been persicuted for to long! With rights we wont be as blatently subjected to the open hatred by religious groups and fools who simply cannot understand our way of life. We need to show all of them that we will NOT tolerate this kind of treatment and that we must have change! We have to stand up and let the world know that our times of hiding in the shadows of fear and abuse are over! Let my fellow Nightwalkers hear my voice and be rallied to the cause of freedom! WE WILL NEVER STOP FIGHTING! The Vampire Phear P.S If any of you want to be men about this E-mail me at Raven_darksoul@yahoo.com. This is one of my dummy accounts so I dont check it to often. But you never know, I might have time to hear what you have to say...

Differences between Twilight and Tru Blood. In Tru Blood, "Bill" is referred to as being "Old Fashioned"...thats a direct statement from what "Bella", the main character of The "Twilight Saga", says about her Vampire lover, Edward. Also with the southern accents (this is more personal opinion on the matter) the name "Bill" sounds an awful lot like "Bell" which is a nickname for Bella in The "Twilight Saga". Also Sookie has dreams/nightmares about Bill...This is EXACTLY the same as The "Twilight Saga". Bella has dreams/nightmares about Edward being outside her window. However, unlike in Tru Blood, Edward is actually outside listening to Bella's nightmares. In Tru Blood, Bill is a Vampire, and In Twilight, Edward is a Vampire....however, the ability of Sookie is actually possessed By Edward...in short, Edward can read minds, BUT NOT Bella's, and in Tru Blood, Sookie can read minds of Vampires (im guessing, didnt even bother to watch the 1st full episode...after 45 mins. i d

Ok maybe im the only one who has read the series, but im guessing no one here has read the "Twilight Saga". Basically this show "Tru Blood", even though it is "Supposedly" based on Charlene Harris' stories, is in a way a very poorly re-done/knock-off version of these books. The "Twilight Saga" consists of 4 books, written by Stephenie Meyer, and has characters with similar abilities and stuff, but its all flopped around... ill make it easy on people trying to follow what im saying by doing this... Maybe I'm being naieve, but isn't the secrecy part of what allures the vampires? I mean, astro-projection, telepathy, just a few of the things that some vampires can do. (from what I have been told from someone close to a vampire) I mean, if they want rights, that's fine. More power to em. I'd vote for it, just figured it was sorta like being a witch, the less people who really know the better.

Vampires are people and the stories about them sucking blood are only myth's and for hollywood they are people that act out part's in Vampire stories like sucking blood they act like they are and they file their teeth for show and they do not go around sucking blood with them Vampirism is a type of religion to them and let them practice that if they want to you people make it seem like they are going to eat you grow the fuck up ass holes and some people may think Dracula he was a torturer not a Vampire.

I believe vampires should be given a chance. Yes they suck blood and yes they kill but so do humans. We aren't that different from them which is why just like humans, they should be given a chance because vampires are people too.
