Shannon Doherty Officially Set to Reprise Her Role on Beverly Hills 90210

Rumors have been swirling around for what seems like months, but it has finally been officially announced that actress Shannon Doherty will be returning to her former zip code: 90210. Shannon Doherty was one of the original cast members of Beverly Hills, 90210, which hit television by storm when it premiered back in 1990. FOX had been trying to bring out some new shows that would appeal to a younger audience, and with the help of creator Aaron Spelling, hit absolute gold when Beverly Hills, 90210 became a smash hit all around the country. Shannon Doherty starred as one of the main characters, Brenda Walsh, who was a new student who had moved with her family and brother Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley) from Minnesota all the way to Beverly Hills.

According to reports on CNN, Brenda Walsh (Doherty) will be returning to her old stomping grounds as, "a now famous theater director invited back to West Beverly Hills High School to stage a musical." It's not that much of a stretch, as Doherty has made it around the business for quite a few years, and really does understand what it takes. Whether fans of the original show will buy into the new story-lines for her character, or whether new fans will even care could be another thing entirely. What is a sure bet though, is that this is going to keep causing news stories as Doherty is going to be working side-by-side with several of the co-stars that she reportedly did not get along with back in the first run of the show.
